Nope! Art of Sound is designed for both total beginners and those who’ve dabbled but want to deepen. You’ll be guided step-by-step, with both technical tutorials and creative rituals that meet you where you are.

You’ll need Ableton Live (any version will work, but Suite or Standard is recommended for the full experience). A free trial is available on their website, and I’ll guide you through getting set up.

You don't "need" anything more than your laptop with Ableton downloaded and a pair of closed-ear headphones. There are some other pieces of gear that will make this course a lot of fun, though (such as an external hard drive, a MIDI keyboard of your choice, an audio interface and recording microphone). You will receive a full list as well as suggestions for purchasing. 

Each module has 1-2 hours of video content to watch. I recommend taking it at your own pace and make sure you understand each module before moving on to the next. To complete the course and your first project in an 8 week period would require an extra 2-4+ hours of practice from you each week outside of the time the videos take. You are more than welcome to take your time, though!

Yes. If you move through all the modules and participate fully, you’ll walk away with a complete track from start to finish—and a repeatable process for creating more.
